Set after the first movie and clearly AU. Not my best - I'm rusty - but it was fun to do. The prompt was "wake."

He crept into Port Royal when he heard the news, arriving at the Turner's house in the small hours, looking a bit somber and laden with rum. Will and Elizabeth stared sleepily at their unexpected guest. They were puzzled, but not displeased, to see him standing on their threshold in the dark. When he told them why he was there, though, they were shocked.
"But he ordered you to be hanged, Jack!" Elizabeth exclaimed. She'd mourned, but hadn't expected Jack to.
"Just doin' his job, love," Jack replied. "He always did it well. Let's give the Commodore a proper wake."
