My sister texted yesterday to see if we wanted to go over for supper tonight along with her two kids. That would be six people in her house and we wouldn't be able to maintain six feet between everyone. It would've been nice to see them and Irish was eager to get out of the house but the idea still made us leery. (We're both in high risk groups, and my sister, her husband, and my niece have all been going out to work all along. My sister is a nurse in a clinic, though doesn't generally see patients, her husband works for a manufacturer running a big laser, and my niece is the activities director in a nursing home. My nephew works for a payroll company and has been working at home.) I told her we'd let her know this morning, then this morning ended up texting her and telling her no, sorry. She said she understood and that actually her husband wasn't too thrilled with the idea, either, so she was thinking about just having her kids over for lunch while husband was on a long bike ride.

Irish still wanted to get out of the house and it's a beautiful day, so we just took a short drive. Our oil change was overdue, so we drove over to South Bend and got an oil change, then went through Panda Express and brought dinner home. We took the long way back, which is a highway that passes through about 20 miles of farm country, with little wooded stretches all along it. It was a really nice drive, we didn't have to get out of the car for the oil change or to get supper, and everyone involved wore masks. I know Panda Express is just fast-food Chinese but we haven't had any Chinese food in over two months, so it was welcome and it tasted pretty good. I think now that the weather is finally getting summery (we seem to have skipped spring almost completely), we might do some longer drives on the weekends. We can bring cold drinks from home for the drive and plan for a different curbside service or drive-through restaurant on the way home. I'm looking forward to it, though it's a little surprising how exciting the idea of hitting up various drive-through restaurants over the summer is.
