It's been a pretty mild October so far (I'm not complaining!). We've had only 3 nights below 50 F (10 C) this year and those were the last 3 nights. They ranged from 43 to 48 degrees (6.1 to 8.8) and we've had no frost at all. The only real down side to that is not a lot of color change yet, either. Most of the trees on our street are still mostly green and the one across the street that's usually the first to turn is turning - but not very quickly!
This is the view from the bedroom window upstairs. I took this photo just over a year ago.

Same tree, three days ago.

And today, after 3 nights below 50F

There was more color change a year ago than this year. I wish my phone had done a better job of picking up the color - it's more of a bright orangey-yellow than it appears in the photos.
Nice to have a breather at work today! Last Friday was slowish during the day (a break after 2 weeks of non-stop weirdness) but picked up again about an hour before I logged off and yesterday was another wild one). My best friend turns 60 today and wants to celebrate at a local Chinese place with a family-style dinner. It's a good day to work through my lunch hour and leave half an hour early, so it'll be nice not to have to rush out of the house the minute I log off. Also, it's sunny and warm today - 69 F (20.5 C) right now and expected to get a few degrees warmer. (On her 28th birthday, there was an unseasonal heavy snowstorm that dropped a good 6 inches of snow, maybe more, and she "celebrated" by calling off work and staying in the house, drinking Coke and Jack.)
