Overlooking the Obvious

Just an addendum to yesterday's entry - got home, checked out my cd drive and yep, apparently it's just a plain old cd drive. No writing capabilities. *Sigh* At least I figured it out before I asked someone else to take a look at it - 'cause that would've just been embarrasing! (That still doesn't explain the two cds I have that the computer seems unable to read at all. I can access them at work. Of course that's easily fixed by moving those documents to another disc.)

Happy Birthday, Captain

Captain Sparrow, that is. Well, Johnny Depp, who brought the Captain to life in all his beaded, gold-toothed glory.

This is a drabble I posted to the Black Pearl Sails yahoo group a couple of years ago. Nothing fancy, just good wishes for a great actor.

It was late and they were all mostly drunk, relaxing
in a tavern in Tortuga.

"D'you know your birthday, Jack?" AnaMaria asked
lazily.

"That I do, love. Me mum made special note of the day
and each year she gave me a sweet to remember it. The
ninth of June it is."

Many of the crew didn't know their own birthdates.
Birthday celebrations were for kings and queens, not
for common folk.

The crew had little use for calendars. Tonight,
though, each of them determined to know the date
before leaving port. Birthday celebrations could also
be for pirate captains.
