Several folks on my friends list are doing this meme right now. This is in response to [livejournal.com profile] vanillafluffy.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- What I create will be just for you.
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- You will receive your item before the end of the year (or sooner).
- You will have no clue what the item is going to be. It could be a story or poetry. It could be a piece of handmade jewelry or an art doll. I may draw, paint, collage or crochet something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to repost this meme and make and send out five surprises of your own.

...and had my physical on Friday. I tend to avoid them, partly because I rarely get sick (I know, that's no excuse), partly because I've had bad experiences with doctors in the past (most fat folk have - even ones who are just a few pound overweight, and I'm more than a few). Also, for a good half of the past decade, I had no medical insurance at all. However, I have insurance now, and I had a doctor 10 years ago that I really liked, so I made an appointment with him and went Friday and intend to keep up with proper medical and dental care from now on. We actually spent most of the appointment discussing my health over the past decade and he postponed the physical for three weeks, sent me off to get blood drawn and make a mammogram appointment, and ordered a sleep study for me.

I figured he'd want the bloodwork, so I had fasted since the previous night - and then unthinkingly took a swig of Coke that Irish offered me in the car between the doctor's office and the hospital down the street, where they do the bloodwork. I was thirsty, it was cold! Aagghh. I did tell the folks at the hospital and they weren't too concerned over one swallow. Still, I'd much rather it was a true fasting test. If I hadn't been driving the car, I'd have spit it out - the minute the pop hit my tongue, I knew I'd done something stupid. *sigh*

I'm also not surprised he ordered the sleep study - I should find out this week when that takes place. My youngest sister suffers from sleep apnea (and won't go anywhere overnight without her C-PAP) and so did my dad (but he hated his BI-PAP), plus I snore. Of course, I have chronic allergies and have always snored, but it is a major symptom. I don't sleep particularly well anyway and wouldn't be surprised to find that I sleep even less well than I realized.

The good news is that my blood pressure's great and my lungs are clear (I'm just finishing up a course of amoxicillin to treat bronchitis - I could tell it was working just by how I felt, but nice to get a confirmation that it's done its job) and the doctor ok'd me to join Curves and/or get a bicycle and ride it regularly. Of course that means I now have to actually do those things!

Next on my list of grownup things to do: the dentist. I'm not looking forward to this one and neither is my pocketbook. Fortunately, I have dental insurance, which will help somewhat, and there's a dental group here that's known for working with dental wienies. That would be me! I have a pretty high pain tolerance - except for my mouth. Then I become a big, fat coward. I just have to keep thinking of the end result.... Having a pretty smile again (and healthy teeth, of course) will be worth the trouble.
