I hate summer. I especially hate summer in the Midwest. Southern Nevada is much hotter but there's no humidity to speak of.* It's only in the low seventies right now (at 7:45 a.m.) in northern Indiana but it's already miserable, with humidity at 72% and, apparently, no rain in sight. Ick ick ick. I hate summer! And it's only just beginning. I'm pretty sure those who've only lived in the southwest would not survive here - and I'm pretty sure I would not survive, say, Florida. I can't even imagine trying to live in Florida in the summer! October seems so far away....

ETA - let's not even go into how my shoes and wedding ring don't fit right all summer long no matter how much water I drink. *sigh* That seems to be directly related to the humidity, since it's much more of an issue here than it was in Nevada.

* That still doesn't mean you want to be outside in July or August. 115 or 120 degrees is really, really hot even in the shade and the sun there is much harsher than it is here, even at lower temperatures. Still, in Las Vegas, if it's 90 degrees out and you're under an awning or umbrella it's surprisingly pleasant. That lack of humidity makes a tremendous difference.

(Oh, why don't we have a/c? Because in spite of all my complaining, I don't think three months of misery is worth paying for a window unit, bringing it upstairs, installing it in a window - with whatever jerry-rigging is necessary to keep it from falling out of said window! we'd probably have to pay someone else to do that, too - paying the surcharge on our rent, then uninstalling it - so we can shut the window! - and finding a place to stow it for nine months. The surcharge on the rent, btw, is completely reasonable since utilities are included in our rent and those little window units are energy-wasters. But if we had central a/c, I'd be all over it.)
