Forty years today since the Kent State massacre. I remember this - not the event itself; I wasn't quite seven and it's not the sort of news my parents would've let me watch or even told me about. I remember my mom crying about it though. I know there are some folks on my flist older than I am - do you remember this? Kids, every last one of them - the students and the National Guard. (Irish was a kid then, too, 18 years old and in the thick of things in Vietnam.)

I went to the Indiana Library Federation (District One) conference today in Michigan City. It was my first professional conference, interesting and informative, low-key. Saw a few people I knew, talked with some others - I liked it. That was the cool part and driving up to New Buffalo for a quick glimpse of Lake Michigan before heading home in this perfect weather was the uber-cool part. Not so cool - I completely forgot to tip the valet. Remembered it 30 minutes down the road, half-way home. It's not even like I've never valet-parked before! (The conference was at the Stardust Event Center at the Blue Chip Casino.) I feel like a heel.
