So I've been racing through Doctor Who ('cause I like it so much that I don't like to stop watching - what will I do when I'm entirely caught up?) and I'm actually near the end of series 4.

I've really come to like Donna a lot. I think it's been good for the Doctor to have a Companion relationship that doesn't have the same kind of intensity as his relationship with Rose. Whether he was in love with her or not - I gather there's some debate about that! - their relationship was certainly intense and very close. I loved his relationship with Martha as well - I've enjoyed watching how the Doctor's relationships with each of his Companions varies - and I really liked that she had a lot of scientific knowledge right from the beginning. That was fun to watch. Donna, though - she seemed like a breath of fresh air. (Which, when you think about it, is a simile that puts the other women in an unfavorable light - what were they, bad breath? - and that's not what I mean at all.) She's just so plain-spoken and outspoken. The first few times she went somewhere with the Doctor, I kept thinking she's not really cut out for this life - but then it was like someone threw a switch or something and she just took to it and decided to stay forever. (And how cool is it that she actually packed for travel.) But I still like Amy best. :-)

(More rambling behind the cut.) Read more... )
I know there were more things I wanted to comment on or ask, so no doubt there'll be a Timey-Wimey Stuff Part 2. Right now, though, I'm off to watch more.

David Tennant is a master of the 1000 yard stare.

Why does everyone on Doctor Who say "Cardiff" as if it's a joke?
