The other day, I saw a poll on some website asking for folks' favorite way to prepare their Thanksgiving turkey. I didn't see options labeled "bake a ham". Had to go with "other" instead. (I think turkey is one of the most highly overrated foods around. It's good for about 10 minutes while it's still hot and juicy and then - *shudder*.)

Though, come to think of it, I've had some roast turkey lunch meat that wasn't too bad and I've had some good turkey hot dogs as well. Or maybe that just goes to show - when you have to adulterate a meat to make it good, it's just not good to start with.

You know, I understand people who come to work sick when they don't have sick time - we all count on our full salaries to pay our bills and put food on the table. But for heaven's sake, when you work at a place like ours, which offers a generous amount of sick time in addition to three personal days to be used for any reason, there is no excuse for you to come to the office and spread your flu germs around. Stay away from me! I'm not kidding! I am so sick of getting sick! I'm off work again today - started feeling achey yesterday and by the time I got home, I had chills, then fever, fatigue, and achiness in every joint. Fortunately, this time it didn't really affect my stomach. Still, I had to take the day off and all I did till a couple of hours ago was sleep. At least I didn't waste a vacation day, like last time, That really peeved me. I know at least one person was home with pukey kids on Monday and another on Tuesday, and that one came to work yesterday even though, she said, her stomach was still bad. Stop it! Stay home!!

Speaking of flu, I got the flu shot for the second time ever and I don't think I'll get it again. I've never had the flu more than this year - this is the second or third bug since I got the flu shot. I know that it's made with dead vaccine and so is not supposed to make anyone sick and I know that correlation is not causation, but I don't think I'll bother with it again. I usually, if I do get sick, get one bad bout of cold or flu a year and I'm fine the rest of the time. This time, as I said, I've had 2 or 3 bouts - all minor, with me getting better in 24-48 hours - but honestly, I'd rather have the one bad bout and have it done with.

Also, I think the flu shot triggered an egg sensitivity in me. I was allergic to eggs as a toddler but grew out of that allergy. I love eggs - they taste good, they're relatively inexpensive, they can be prepared in all kinds of ways, and they're great if you're trying to keep your carb counts down. Plus - eggs for breakfast = not hungry till lunch. But ever since I had the shot this year, whenever I eat eggs, I end up with a really upset stomach, gas, bloating, diarrhea - the whole nasty nine yards. When I gave up eggs, it all went away (and I lost about 1.5 to 2 inches from my belly almost overnight; that's how bloated they were making me). All trouble I did not have until the shot. *sigh* I'm not happy about this! I'm going to wait a month and try a couple of fried eggs or an omelet and see what happens. If it's a sensitivity rather than a true allergy (which is what I think since I have had cake made with eggs and not had a reaction), then I can probably have them once in a blue moon.

Hey, the guy who plays Walter in "Fringe" is in The Lord of the Rings! I knew he was familiar - especially the voice - but I just couldn't place him. We've been watching LOTR, so now I've got it.

Oh, Viggo's singing. Gotta love that!

Enough rambling about nothing, I guess.

PS - am I the only one who thinks Orlando Bloom actually looks better as a blue-eyed blond?

PS2 - Irish could totally make the armor Viggo's wearing. All he would need are the proper tools.
