In my first (and so far only) 100 Books I Love post (tagged under 100 things), I wrote about the book Greensleeves, by Eloise Jarvis McGraw. It's back in print, as of March 31st of this year. Today it's a Kindle Daily Deal for $1.99, which I just bought. It's also available in paperback for $9.18, which I'm adding to my Wishlist (I have a copy of the out-of-print hardcover, so don't need to purchase a new hard copy right now. I'll eventually get it, though because - hey, new cover illo!) It's also available as a free read through Kindle Unlimited. I've been wanting this book to go back into print for 32 or 33 years - I even wrote to the original publisher one and begged. I'm so excited! Not sure of the publishing company - it looks like it might actually be Amazon itself - but it's under the imprint "Nancy Pearl's Book Crush Rediscoveries" and has an intro by Nancy Pearl.

(Okay, that subject line's way too long!)

Greensleeves by Eloise Jarvis McGraw was published in 1968.
Read more... )At the end of the book, Shannon still doesn't have all the answers she was looking for but she's got some direction and some goals. Greensleeves doesn't have what I'd call a happy ending, but it has a very satisfying one. It's easy to see why I loved the book so much the first time I read it. It continues to hold up on rereading and it's still one of my favorites, all these years later.

(Edited to change dates a little so as not to age myself an entire year.)

I've been neglecting my LJ so I've decided to commit to something (sort of) that should keep me posting at least once or twice a week. I don't want to officially sign up for the 100 Things challenge (that's where the "sort of" commitment comes in) but I am going to do it unofficially. I plan on writing about "100 Books I Love (Or Really Like), In No Particular Order." I don't think I'll have trouble coming up with 100 books - the more I think about it, the more I come up with. (And this'll be way more productive than spending my summer playing Jewel Quest Heritage. Not that I'm going to stop playing Jewel Quest Heritage!)
