Anyway, I now have tapes of Jeremiah and have been watching the eps as I find the time. I've seen 14 eps so far (two tapes worth) and hope I can watch another tape over the weekend. Jeremiah is set in a future world after the adult population has been killed off by an illness referred to as the Big Death. I have a few questions about the timing (it doesn't work in my head) but not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the show by any means. The main characters are two men, Jeremiah and Kurdy, who ran into each other while wandering. They teamed up and ended up joining a group of people who live in Thunder Mountain and who are trying to rebuild society. Jeremiah and Kurdy spend a lot of time traveling around, meeting other groups of people, helping them out, finding resources.... I guess a lot of people find them to be a slashy pairing. I don't see it so far, but I'm always willing to be convinced and, hey, I have four more tapes to get through so anything's possible!
So what does Jeremiah have to do with Buffy? As I watch episodes of Jeremiah, I keep being reminded of a Buffy fanfic I read a year or so ago. It was by Fallowdoe and called "Spiegel im spiegel". I hunted for it today and found it at <http://allaboutspike.com/auth.html?au=113> . The story is an AU, set after the end of Season 5 - but in this AU, Buffy didn't get to Dawn in time, didn't save Dawn's life, and didn't stop the apocalypse. The story is well-written, stunning, just breath-taking. I can't recommend it highly enough. I was thrilled to find that Fallowdoe has begun a sequel (though typical of me, just a few hours after reading it, I can't remember what the name is!) which can be found at the same place.
I love the way things blend together sometimes. Synchronicity. I guess that's become a cliche over the years, hasn't it? I still love it.
